Band
Formed part way through 2013, For Astronauts and Satellites combine the old, nostalgic sounds from their past with post rock sensibilities and visceral British rock. Sighting bands such as Reuben, 65daysofstatic, Starscream and Explosions in the Sky amongst their mutual influences, Ian Squibb, Matt Squibb and Mike Pittman create expansive and at times beautifully aggressive post rock soundscapes that breathe life into their old Nintendo handhelds and Commodore 64 computers.
Ian and Matt Squibb have been playing in bands together since 2002. In 2006, the two brothers met Mike and have been playing in a band together ever since. For Astronauts and Satellites was created in 2013, initially the brainchild of Ian, and the trio spent the remainder of the year and early 2014 song writing and perfecting their first self titled release. The trio explore the limited capabilities of the hardware with beautifully woven, texturally rich guitars, and live drums blend seamlessly with electronic percussion to create a sound both nostalgic and modern.
